Re: New Graph Menu
The scripts must take such an issue into account.
The solution is to have a Script Data Query which delivers the wanted set of data per each index, where the index ist the VM in question. This has been described in the documentation at http://docs.cacti.net

The "error" is, that the values are stacked. That in fact does not make sense. But it looks nice

Re: store log statistics about polling in database?
Sure; but this will require a plugin.
YOu may be ok with the poller stats graph templates that have been published, which keep track of those stats

It makes me wonder, why AUTOM8 realms aren't listed here. You're sure to have the plugin activated?

You'll have to provide permissions to use this plugin for those users who should deal with it

Re: Changing the time scale?
Cacti by default displays the first graph related to the RRAs defined. You may change those RRA defintions. But this will have multiple side effects. Those have been discussed quite often (e.g. in the HowTo section discussiong 1mn polling).

Re: Enhancing special data source with graph-related values
I'd try to graph this as a color, not a numeric value.
Find some examples in the documentation in the CDEF section or on the www.
So you may use a light blue background when it's raining, otherwise white or whatever you fancy

This is discussed and a script is provided in the documnetation section. Using this script, you may mass-extend exting rrd files
